About the workplace

The Meal department is responsible for food in preschools, schools, and kitchens within elderly care operated by the municipality.

The Meal department has about 160 employees distributed across approximately 55 kitchens. The number of portions prepared in the various kitchens varies between 20 and 2500 per day.

In each kitchen, there is a responsible chef who works together with meal assistants depending on the size of the kitchen. In some kitchens, solitary work occurs. It is also important to be able to understand and participate in the Meal department's self-control program and follow this.

The Meal department strives to prepare as much food as possible from scratch, and our main goal is for the food to taste good and be nutritious.

Job responsibilities

As a short-term substitute within the Meal department, you will be offered to replace regular staff during their absence. You are responsible for entering your availability in our booking system, and you will be booked based on availability. The exact times you will work will vary and are often determined with short notice.

  • As a chef, your tasks include planning/work management. Cooking from scratch and preparing everything from breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner, as well as post-work.
  • As a meal assistant, your tasks include preparing salad buffets, baking, serving, dishwashing, and post-work. You should also be able to handle simpler cooking.

As a chef/meal assistant, you are part of a team that collaborates and helps each other with all tasks that occur in a kitchen.

  • You should be easy to collaborate with.
  • You contribute to a pleasant work environment and an effective work group.
  • You are service-oriented and have a positive attitude.
  • Work experience in a kitchen is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Trained chef and/or meal assistant.
  • Proficient in the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
  • Good computer skills and knowledgeable about other digital tools.
